Everything you need to know to work with me.
How do you describe your style?
Cinematic wedding photography with vibrant colour, bold flash and playful storytelling for images that feel editorial, timeless and instantly nostalgic.
What is your photography approach?
Throughout the day I’m looking for moments that feel spontaneous, effortless and real. For large portions of the day I’m documenting what I see as it unfolds and balancing this with areas that require more direct coaching (like group photos, when I go full camp counsellor mode.) For portraits, we play with location/props/movement and I strongly believe in prompts over posing. I use gentle direction to shape an moment. I’m always looking for that one unexpected element that takes an image to the next level.
How do we book you?
I keep things very simple: Usually we have a phone call to meet. Once you’ve chatted and know you want to work with me, you send me an email to confirm the date, your full names (first & last) and the collection you want. Next, I will draw up an invoice for a 25% non-refundable retainer fee and a contract for you to sign. Once I have the signed contract and the retainer fee back, we’re booked! The full balance is due by the wedding date. E-transfer is preferred.
How do we get our photos?
Within a week of the wedding I send a handful of previews, then it is usually 8-10 weeks for the full gallery delivery. Galleries are sent via an online gallery website and can be shared with your friends and family around the world. The gallery expires 6-months after I send it, so please make sure to back up your photos in at least 3 ways (Google Photos, Dropbox, a portable hard drive) or better yet, print them!
Do you offer engagement shoots?
Yes! Wedding photography can be intimidating to think about because let’s face it, when was the last time a stranger followed our every move with a camera for a day? An engagement shoot gives you the chance to get to know me before your day and learn some posing techniques so that on the day you can effortlessly slip into postures that you feel confident in. I want you to feel comfortable and not fear the camera on your wedding day so this is a great option for anyone who feels a little anxious and wants some support. Or for those who just want some great portraits for their wedding website.
Will you travel?
Yes! Travel more than 1.5 hour outside of the GTA is plus mileage and may require 1-2 nights accommodation depending on your schedule/amount of coverage. I love to travel internationally and always look forward to shooting destination weddings when they arise.
Can you help us plan our schedule?
Sort of! While I do not plan the schedule for you, I’m happy to make timing suggestions based on what you’ll need photography wise or provide feedback to a schedule if you’ve got one taking shape.
Do you shoot film?
Yes! Film is included in the 8-hour collection but more can be added for $75+hst/roll which covers the hard cost of the film and processing. Film is delivered in the final collection mixed into the full gallery, and it’s fun to try to figure out which ones are film and which are digital! Film is shot on whatever stock/body I’m into at the time. As I shoot on vintage cameras which come with a degree of risk, you will have your ala carte film charge refunded if the photos do not turn out.
Are your rates flexible?
Nope. My rates are my rates. They have been designed to be competitive, respectful and reasonable. I pay taxes, insurance, maintain two sets of gear, work with incredible professional second shooters, back up your images on new hard drives each year and maintain a variety of subscriptions for editing software and websites. My rates reflect all of this. I’m also very conscious that this industry is inflated and have tried to not let my rates grow out of alignment with what I think is fair for the average person given the quality of my services.
Do you have a second shooter?
Yes! I work with incredible second shooters, all professional lead photographers in their own businesses. The rate is $100/hour + HST to add a second shooter and it must be for a minimum of 4 hours. It’s ideal for situations when multiple things are happening at once (I haven’t yet learned to be in two places at once…), when the guest count is over 100 or when you just want full coverage of every aspect of the day.
Why do you shoot weddings?
Honestly? I got married and I loved it. I highly recommend marriage. 11/10. Five stars. And a wedding day is one of the most fun challenges you can take on as a photographer. It’s about documenting commitment and real emotion. Preserving memories that will become family heirlooms. Making it all look like art, rain or shine. How could you not love doing this? Every wedding day has a moment where I whisper to myself “I am SO lucky.”
Do you accept cash?
If you want to pay in cash that is fine…but I still need to collect tax. As a business, albeit a small one, I follow all tax rules and regulations.
Do you give RAWs?
Nope. Pressing the shutter button is only part of creating an image. The editing portion of my work is key to my style and I do not provide unedited images or RAW files as that file alone is Whnot representative of the finished product or the intention I have while taking the image.do
